Everyone's jumping on ugg boots trying to make a buck - Buyer beware.

Ive got to say I had a bit of a laugh today. I thought I go and browse the Google listing for ugg boots, ugg, ugg boot and uggs. Thinking id find the big few ugg store listing. But to my surprise I noticed that their is literally hundreds of sites that have popped up pretty much over night. This presents a potential disaster for consumers. Id like to show you why.

I thought for starters id run whois checks and found 99% of the websites offering ugg boots are less than 24 months old. So I thought id start digging and emailed these new sites (more than 50) asking a few telling questions. I really couldn't believe some of the replies I received. What surprised me the most was a good chunk of these overnight so called ugg dealers replied claiming to be a direct manufacturer or a specialists in this industry and that their boots are the best merino quality around. NO chance. I say Buyers Beware!

So to prove this I thought I go run some more tests to see if these ugg overnighters really were manufacturers or just regular house wife back yarders trying to make a buck. I emailed these websites again asking if they would be interested in stocking our ugg range. Sure enough I received replies as quick as I could blink asking how much we can supply them, can they buy small quantities and could we post (deliver) our boots direct to their customer without them holding stock in-house. This proves in a nut shell that 99% of the sites selling ugg boots online are not established and couldn't possibly provided end to end customer service. Not good for the consumer!

We've been in the Australian sheepskin Industry for a long long time. Way before ugg received this so called rock star status. I can only offer my experience in this field and warn consumers of the pitfalls purchasing from the majority of sites popping up online. Yes they have put a lot of time into their new ugg websites to give the appearance of a major retailer. But this is far from the truth. Any Joe can hire a designer to create a good looking site to entice a consumer. But a good looking site doesnt mean a good quality product.

At the end of the day their is a couple of major points consumers need to check off before making a purchase and from my research I cant see how these new sites can provide this.

1. Quality - yes everyone says their boots are A grade Quality but I cant agree with this claim. Especially when the majority are resellers or using a dropship service.
2. Customer service - how can some one working out of bedroom or home office provide the customer service when an issue arises?

Anyway which ever way you decide to go when purchasing your new boots, I would just like to explain within Australia their is really only less than a handful of genuine Australian ugg boot manufacturers. Within this handful their is only really maybe one or two at very best that provide a high end product. I'm not here to name names but just be a little careful. My best suggestion is buy from a long time established online ugg boots dealer with full global delivery. Nine years trading online and thousands of happy customer testimonials. I can also personally recommend two extra online ugg stores who have the infrastructure in place to provide quality boots and quality after sales customer service. www.uggfootwear.com.au and www.30-below.com. Hope this helps you in your quest for the perfect ugg.
